There have been human activities in Chuzhou City as early as the Stone Age. In the third year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (583), Nanqiaozhou was renamed Chuzhou, named after Chuhe River. Chuhe River was called "Tu Shui" in ancient times. Chuzhou was named after It evolved from the ancient "Tuzhong" and was the capital of the Six Dynasties. It has been known as "the key to Jinling and the guarantee of Jianghuai" since ancient times. Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty, raised his army in Fengyang and built the Mingzhong Capital and the Ming Emperor's Mausoleum here. Ouyang Xiu, a literary giant of the Song Dynasty "The Drunkard's Pavilion" and "The Scholars" written by the Quanjiao scholar Wu Jingzi have become Chuzhou's famous masterpieces.
